I would possibly look for any RTS/RTO type SLA's that applied to try and
get an exemption and push the security back to the network guys, but
equally I understand how sometimes these things just have to be lived with
despite what I might think.

The biggest issue as was pointed out is if lack of access to the data
centre means you can't get to the console what happens then.

Maybe another approach is to ask for a HMC to replace the LAN console in
order to make remote access secure. Making it financial often helps.

Yeah an ethernet cable between the two should do it.

It does mean the windows box would have to be off the network though
doesnt
it ? How will they patch it ?
