I think it's important to remember that this isn't an "either/or" scenario.  You can have both vim and RDi, and use them both on a regular basis.

As I mentioned before, I tend to use RDi when sitting down to do longer, more in-depth changes.  I use vim when doing "quick looks" or small changes.  Others may do things differently.
