Thanks to all that have responded so far.
Seems that we are not alone in the push to a GUI due to the 'younger
generation'.
We currently do have a number of PHP apps for 'one off' applications but
the move to include 'heavier processing apps' to a web based app had been
discussed in the past but pushed off because of the internal belief (to
the affected depts.) that a 5250 screen allowed for faster data entry.
But that's a fight for those in those depts., Not IT.
Initially we would only move to a GUI for specific depts. or applications.
Such as our customer service/call center group.
We do have some internal resources that can build web apps, but wondering
if looking at a company that allows a 'template' over our current screens
that we can modify wouldn't give us the best bang for our buck and get us
up and running quicker. Will need to investigate the different software
out there versus us building from scratch.
