We recently went through re-evaluation of both of these. I think the main trade-off of logical vs. storage replication is CPU consumption vs. communications bandwidth. We have plenty of bandwidth between our nodes, but the PowerHA deal breaker for us was the expense of requiring IBM SVCs to front end our non-IBM storage.

Subject: Has anyone ever migrated FROM PowerHA TO a replication product (such as Mimix)?

Or even considered it?

For those who have went the other way (Replication TO PowerHA) what unpleasant surprises, difficulties, etc did you uncover? What do you miss, if anything?

And the question that is often tough to get anyone to answer honestly about anything in IT after the decision maker has invested so much of himself into it:
If you had it to do over again, would you?
