I view a DR solution (business continuity or whatever buzz word you like) as
an insurance policy where the deductible is the downtime. Like most
insurance policies, you never hope to need it. But how much can you afford
(how long can you afford to without your system) if and when something
happens.

These sorts of solutions can work. One MUST MUST MUST Test them of course
and do so on a recurring basis. All it takes is for you to realize you
didn't journal some critical bit (such as a data area with key incrementing
numbers for example) and your 'recovery' fails.



Additionally you must also consider the time it would take to recover using
this method. If the recovery is successful and you can afford the extended
recovery time then it's a solution that works for your business. If it
doesn't then you have spent time effort and money on nothing.
