Can someone point out where the "where" can/should go
in the following imbeded SQL statement:?

strsql = 'Values (Select Count(*) ' +
'From ' + %trim(filein) +
') into ?';
exec sql prepare DynSql from :strsql;
exec sql Execute DynSql using :Countc;

I want to limit the selection and need to select certain records.
The above works fine assuming I want to count them all.

FWiW, that extremely simplistic and generic dynamic query request would become much less generically operable, having added a capability for a WHERE clause. Prepare [pun intended] for additional possible errors in actual usage.

if FldIn<>'' ;
where_clause = ' Where ' + %trim(FldIn) +
' ' + %trim(OprIn) +
' ( ? ) ' ;
endif ;
strsql = 'Values ( Select Count(*)' +
' From ' + %trim(FileIn) +
where_clause +
') into ?' ;
exec sql prepare DynSql from :strsql ;
if sqlcode<0 ;
// deal with failure; e.g.: -206, -302, -104
else ;
exec sql Execute DynSql using :CompareVal, :Countc ;
endif ;
