How much can I give kudos to the database team in Rochester? These new SQL services are fantastic. From working with journal entries to object information to group PTF status to ??? and have the results available directly with SQL statements - well, it's marvelous.

This stored procedure is just another example of this growing toolset. Get on over to http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/ibmi and follow you mouse-clicks to the Technical Updates page and thence to the DB2 section to see what's available for each release.

These are also documented in the KnowledgeCenter, as Birgitta's citation shows.

If you have ideas for more of these, submit a requirement at http://requirements.common.org or submit a DCR.

Cheers
Vern

If you are on release 7.2 you may intend to use the GENERATE_SQL

Betreff: Can't call QSQGNDDL on a V7R2M0 box.

Hello,

I would like the CREATE TABLE DDL for a PF on my clients V7R2M0 system. I am
QSECOFR on this system. The internet tells me that QSQGNDDL is a wonderful
tool for doing that, and proceeds to tell me that DDL is the future and DDS
is the past, which is great news for me because I'm a PHP programmer that
knows SQL, and not DDS, or RPG.

Unfortunately, this IBMi tells me "Command QSQGNDDL in library *LIBL not
found." This is not great news for me.

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/ssw_ibm_i_72/apis/qsqgnddl.htm
Indicates that this command still works in V7.2 (also it gave me stern
warnings about the maintenance window). It doesn't say what library it would
be in, or else I'd attempt to edit my library list, which is something I
have not done in a decade, but understand in theory. What am I doing wrong?

If there is an alternative methodology to "script" a PF to a CREATE TABLE
statement, such as through PASE, I'm all ears. I'm actually much more
comfortable at the PASE shell prompt than the green screen.

Thanks,

Justin
