To go the other direction involves a few options.

One easy, but often error fraught, way is the QNTC directory. Let's say
you have a laptop named TOMLAPTOP and you've created a share on that
called TLSHARE. You should be able to do this command on your IBM i:
WRKLNK '/QNTC/TOMLAPTOP/TLSHARE/*' and see the files in that share.
An alternative is NFS or network file system. On the remotes you do a
'export' to show this share. Then your IBM i would do a 'mount' over it.

QNTC is easy and not a whole lot of thought. Mounting and exporting
involves more strange parameters and whatnot.

But...
Here's one flaky QNTC situation. Let's say you have two shares on
TOMLAPTOP. One is called TLSHARE and one is called
AllOfOurProjectsFrom2012through2013. Now, let's say your IBM i only needs
to use TLSHARE, so you still only access it via WRKLNK
'/QNTC/TOMLAPTOP/TLSHARE/*'. The problem is that just the mere existence
of that other share may cause sporadic failures. It's actually
documented.
