1. We do have cleanup set for Allow=Y and Job logs=31 days. It is not
cleaning pending logs (was not expecting this).

2. We keep the spooled file logs for 31 days to research operational
issues. Often we don't get a report of an issue for several days (I get
called after Ops cannot determine the cause). We do have large number
of client connected jobs, which can produce a large number of pending logs,
based on IBM defaulting a number of their jobd's to do so.
Even though we don't ipl often, we do start & stop all the major subsystems
and tcp in order to break any locks on files from the client interfaces,
and that produces many logs. This occurs each night before save (active).
We've automated spool cleanup so no great accumulation.

What's bothering me is the "some logs in spooled files", some logs only
available through WRKJOBLOG or OpsNav equivalent.

Why must you see them in output queues? Fear of change?

If it's confusion because some joblogs are "pending" and others are in
output queues then why not change the ones that are in output queues to
stop going there and start going to "pending"?

And you really should not have "months" of joblogs. You should set up
clean up in
GO CLEANUP
1. Change cleanup options
Allow automatic cleanup . . . . . . . . . . . . . Y
Number of days to keep:
Job logs and other system output . . . . . . . 7
2. Start cleanup at scheduled time

Subject: how to change pending joblogs to spooled files
Sent by: "MIDRANGE-L" <midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx>

We have months of pending joblogs. While researching some comm problems,
realized we were not seeing all joblogs (looking at spooled output).
Is there a command to convert all these pending logs to spooled files
without having to visit every job through WRKJOBLOG?
Is my only option to stop this in future to change all the jobd's that
have
LOGOUTPUT = *PND?
System value QLOGOUTPUT is *JOBEND
QJOBLOGSVR program is active.
