I'd say the "correct" response is to explain to the CEO why you can save them $ and resources by NOT doing what they asked.

If the CEO won't take that advice then I don't think I want to work there anyway.

I have a table with an index already on Columns 1, 2, 3 and 4.

Now I've been told we need another one on Columns 1, 2 and 3.

Is that necessary? I don't see why.
