You can use SSL by configuring the associated HTTP server for SSL. The
HTTP server front-ends the Web services server.

The built-in web services server tester cannot be used with SSL. You can
use some alternative tool such as SoapUI, which is free.

I'm still re-familiarizing myself, some years after I last worked with
IWS.

Can IWS use SSL (presumably HTTPS)?

Can the built-in web-service tester use it?
