I don't understand what the (2036) means in this PTF description.

I would expect that the (2036) is a Cumulative PTF level designation. In this case, C2036510 where the C=Cumulative, 2=Year-2002, 036=36th-day, 510=VRM=Version-Release-Modification-level. While there was such a cumulative level, I did find a contradictory reference to MF27488 [on the web] claiming that was a v5r3 PTF... but that could easily have been a typo.
