I think I figured it out. When I was done with my testing a couple of
months ago, I recreated the VRT001 media so as to release the allocated
storage (because I knew we wouldn't be using it for awhile).

When I recreated it with ADDIMGCLGE, I fubared and set the size
as IMGSIZ(*IMGCLGTYPE) which defaults to 1gb for virtual tape. Duh, that's
not gonna work. I changed it to 200gb but it's too late to test it today
as I will interfere with the regular backup in 30 minutes or so.

Vacation day Monday, so I'll test it Tuesday.

Jeff,
My BRMS chops are very rusty, no longer involved with operations
for 6+ years, but I think BRMS wants more media and you think
BRMS should have already completed the dup ?

Maybe check "first 6 labels" to see what has actually been "duped" ?
1) BRMS is not writing/re-writing ?

The first 6 labels get written to the virtual tape, then it errors.

2) different tape density = more media ?

I thought the virtual tape just kept expanding as needed. This dup worked
just a couple of months ago.

3) maybe BRMS is not able to accept "G" option
because it's "too far in the dup" and if you
Cancel/Re-try it works ?
4) not sure about "tape /drive/ to virtual" but
is there some significant difference from
from what you tested before ?

I was trying the /drive/ to virtual just to get a time estimate compared
to how long it took to dup from the /library/ to virtual. When dupping
from the /drive/ failed, I then tried it from the /library/ only because it
had worked from the library a couple of months ago. Then, when the
/library/ attempt failed, I started scratching my head.
