The codes starting with 1xxx are power related, in that particular case the
code tells you that P01, PSU p/n 24l1402 is the failing item. I had no idea
that the common failure was a fuse, i've just replaced them. If you can fix
it, better for you, otherwise replacing it shouldn't be very expensive

I have the same model, and after a while in storage the fuse in the PSU
tends to misbehave. (Mine did with a bright spark the first time though)

You can safely replace that fuse, though it's a PITA to disasseble the PSU
- it's sealed tight with a lot of rivets. I drilled them out and replaced
them with screws (that was a lot easier in the end).

At the end of August I decommissioned as AS/400 9406-270 (I think it was
called AS/400 then). Now someone else wants to buy it so I got it out of
storage and fired it up. But the IPL stops very early on with the
following on the LCD panel:

First line: 10111514
Second line: P01 FN 24L1402

Google turned up nothing for me on the first line. The second line
appears to match a part number for a power supply, but I don't think that
is related to this problem.

Anyone know what this means? Do I have a failing power supply?

James Rich

if you want to understand why that is, there are many good books on
the design of operating systems. please pass them along to redmond
when you're done reading them :)
