Looks to me like a network problem. You can ignore the "key_type_from_name: unknown key type" messages: they're red-herrings. Your ssh client has found a key file to use: id_rsa.
At this stage it's waiting for a protocol version string from the server that obviously isn't arriving. Not enough info there to be any more helpful.

The remote vendor sees the initial connection but no authentication.****

We have successfully connected to other remote servers using sftp from the
same box running at v6.1 but not this time.


Any suggestions as to what could be causing the hang?
