I think, but can't confirm, that W8 & Server '12 have a common
codebase/kernel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Server_2012 seems to
support that statement.

If you want to try Server '12, you can do a free 180 day, yeah 6 month,
trial of the Essentials version by downloading it at
"Try It"). The Wikipedia article shows there are few differences
between Essentials and Standard.
