Heck I consider myself lucky if somebody notices an error within 1 week...

Having something go on for a month or more is not unusual...many times
problems are caught during month end or year end...

I extract from our journal receiver the information for certain key
files and keep in an archive file. I often need to refer to it months
later, sometimes years later. (I have different retention periods for
different files in the archive file.)
