Thanks, Jim (and Paul). And sorry about the delay. Getting ready to head out to DevCon.

So you're saying that an image catalog can do the whole shooting match? Oh my. So it will just bounce up and down as needed.

What about the part about the TR needing some PTFs permanently applied? Does that happen by itself, or was I mistaken?

And thanks for mentioning QVOIFIMG. ADDIMGCLGE is a pain with lots of images; that's a nice way to get around it.

Joe

I forgot to mention that the method I suggested will apply the needed
PTFs permanently as needed. That's why if your watching the SRC codes
fly by, you'll see the system go up and down several times.

I would recommend, and what I do with my customers:

Download the cumulative. Remember that includes database and hipers
when your order it.
At the same time grab any of the other groups you'll need. Security,
HTTP, (which includes java), TCP, etc as well as the technology refresh
group as a minimum. Add to taste/need.

Put the cumulative and all the groups into an image catalog (remember to
use "call Qvoifimg parm('imgclgname' '*ALL' 0)" (the last parm is a
zero) to add all of the files to the image catalog easily.

Go PTF use option 8 to load them.

Plan on one very long series of IPLs. You may have to do one manually,
although most likely not. I'm guessing on a small box it could take an
hour to apply PTFs.

You should get everything that way.

The wise Dr. F. will hopefully provide lots more info but I can tell you that doing step 3 will automagically do step 4. You can watch the screen and see that it loads 1 of 1 then well start loading XX of XX then will do another IPL. It works very well. When you do step 2 it will tell you that an IPL is necessary to apply TR5 but one IPL will handle all of it.
