Almost true; The virtual load source disk is not checked by the system for the size, but it does have to be big enough to hold the LIC and OS. I have created many partitions with six or eight 10GB drives without any issue at all (all hosted by VIOS) but I doubt an IBM i hosted LPAR would act differently.
