Re: Disk performance problem with IFS files

fixed

2012/9/13 Jack Kingsley <iseriesflorida@xxxxxxxxx>:
The wasn't a mention of this ifs object, but is this tied to an application
or ?? Maybe a lock was on it.

To clarify: this is happening with any IFS file on the root file
system. I stumbled on this problem because the iSeries is the only way
we have to store data on a LTO4 tape, so I use its files system as a
temporary storage for backups or disk images from other systems, which
I subsequently delete.

As far as I can remember, when we had a "real" iSeries, before the
blade system with virtualized SAN storage, it didn't happen.
The weirdest thing is that to delete a 8 GB file it takes 60 times the
time for a 1 GB file... I'd be curios to know what happens on other
systems / configurations.
