Most tape drives that support hardware encryption have a place for you to enter the encryption key. The key can be stored on the drive itself or a USB key, or in your key database on your iSeries. Key management is necessary to recover a system from encrypted keys. You will need a copy of the key on the remote server, tape drive or a spare USB key. I personally like the USB key.
