Thanks, Charles, this should be helpful to those facing these problems. Are there STILL major vendors that haven't done this?

FYI - the object conversion for 6.1 is the same for 7.1, so if you're already on 6.1, you're good to go on subsequent releases for now. If you are on v5r4, you can run the check on your system and see if you can go to either 6.1 or 7.1.

All,

Just ran across this in an article by Jon Paris...I don't recalling
seeing this information here before, yet I know this has been the
subject of much discussion..
"We appreciate that for some of you the move to V6.1 may be
problematic because some of the software in use on your system will
not migrate. If this is your issue and is caused by the (in)actions of
a recalcitrant or predatory software vendor, then be aware that there
is help available. Ever since the GA of V6.1, IBM has provided a
special email address for the sole purpose of assisting customers in
handling such situations. There have been any number of situations in
which vendors became much more reasonable after a call from IBM. If
you do have a problem in this area, give it a try; the address is
iaic@xxxxxxxxxxx Explain your situation, and who knows; perhaps your
problem will disappear…or at the very least get a lot smaller."

For the archives, a (hopefully mangle proof version) of that email
address is "iaic at us dot ibm dot com"
