First of all, the 3400 doesn't support *IPDS, so this:
Device class . . . . . . . . . . . : DEVCLS *LAN
Device type . . . . . . . . . . . : TYPE *IPDS

Is definitely wrong.

Secondly, this page:
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/7c4c0f5a4d52e3c4862569b4005d198a/57e4e5852dfac70f862569c10079c4ff?OpenDocument

suggests that only LPR (ie. remote out queue) is supported by the 3400

However, you may find that SNMP or IPP is in fact supported by the
print server in the network adapter in the 3400...
In which case you'd want
Device class . . . . . . . . . . . : DEVCLS *LAN
Device type . . . . . . . . . . . : TYPE 3812
System driver program . . . . . SYSDRVPGM *IBMSNMPDRV

or
Device class . . . . . . . . . . . : DEVCLS *LAN
Device type . . . . . . . . . . . : TYPE 3812
System driver program . . . . . SYSDRVPGM *IBMIPPDRV

Look here for direction on setting up *LAN 3812 devices
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/acf2ee1e9d64b16e8625680b00020389/455975a3bf2ac71e862569f9006ba227?OpenDocument

Otherwise, you're going to probably need to get an external print
server that does support SNMP or IPP.

Hello everyone,

First of all, we are at V4R5, but soon getting new box at V5R4M5.

I have a bunch of Intermec 3400 label printers that are set with Twinax
and are working fine.

We use TL Ashford software for the creation of the labels.

I am trying to install a new one, but I don't want it configured as a
Remote OUTQ.  The Users are setup with with WRKSPLF (Basic), so they will
not be able to move any labels to that printer.

When I setup my new printer, the SPLFs go to status PND  and just sit
there.  No error messages anyplace, nothing going on.

Here is a cut/paste of the configuration that I have used for the new
printer.  I can't find any place that will give me a clue on what to use
