Almost none of the emulators allow you to choose the terminal type.
Instead they offer a screen size choice. Generally the 3rd-party ones
simply copy PC5250 which uses a 3179-2 for 24*80 and a 3477-FC for
24*80. The DBCS version of PC5250 uses 5555-C01 for both screen sizes--
it can do this because whether the emulator accepts wide-screen data
is a result of the correct response to a 5520 Query Request rather
than anything inherent in the device type itself.

Why do you think you need a specific terminal type for Win7?

I had seen a terminal type selection on Windows XP version. The caller told me that the Windows 7 version only offered the resolution choice. No connection resulted. There was also talk between the remote person and his network guy. There was speculation that the issue was not a configuration issue. I just wanted to make sure that the lack of connection was not due to a request for a specific terminal type not matching the configured workstation device.

Thanks for the clarification.
