Rob,

I seem to remember that you had some questions (don't know if they
were answered) about the way data was moved from/to the SSDs. Found a
nice IBM presentation about SSDs here:

Again, the help will not be updated on 6.1, but will in 7.1.  If you run
that on a file you will see that the unit will now be set to 255.  In
fact, with the appropriate ptf's on 5.4.5 you run CHGPF UNIT(255) because
they didn't even change the command to support *SSD.

Remember, IBM finds it much easier to make programming changes, but
promoting out help and what not to the myriad number of languages they
support lags behind.  Hence command changes and whatnot are often snuck
out in PTF's.  Help takes a new release.

I've decompiled the command at 6.1.1.  Notice how they change *SSD into
255 before passing it on to the CPP?

I get 'no longer supported' under 6.1 for that Rob

This parameter is no longer supported.  It exists solely
for compatibility with releases earlier than Version 3
Release 6 Modification 0 of OS/400. For information on
using auxiliary storage pools (ASPs), refer to the
Recovering your system book, SC41-5304.

When you execute
CHGPF FILE(SCHEMA/TABLE) UNIT(*SSD)
does it just flip a bit in the definition of the table and do the actual
move in the background or are you locked out of the table until all
sectors are moved?
