The one time I used D1 for maintenance, it was a BIG job and took a week to
fix - a lightning strike smoked our 400 (thankfully, the drives were ok).
The D1 tech based here in Amarillo at the time did a great job.

I don't know about your neck of the woods, but around here all of the
maintenance folks (IBM included) have to first come and check out the
system, then order parts from Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas or Timbuktu. If a
replacement part is needed, tomorrow is the earliest it can be done.

Subject: Third party maintenance

Greetings,

I am tasked with evaluating a proposal for hardware maintenance for our
9405-520.
In the past we have always used IBM for maintenance.
Are there any pitfalls that we need to be aware of in regards to 3rd
party maintenance?
Does anyone have any experience with DecisionOne as a maintenance
provider that you would care to comment on?

thanks

-doug
