I read through the whole thread. Ah, memories.

We have the UPS attached to a J14 port on the 0595 expansion unit. It is
working properly in that we have had short power outages since then, and my
UPS handling programs are responding properly. I believe changing to that
J14 port ultimately cleared things up. I could test by unplugging the UPS
cable and reattaching, but I don't think that will help you if you're not
using a J14 port.

Subject: UPS Questions

First, I have been reading a post that Jeff started regarding UPS
attachment
to the System i (http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-
l/200602/msg01172.html). In brief, he was having an issue with the system
recognizing that the signal cable had been disconnected.

I didn't see anything in the thread regarding the resolution of this
condition. Nor did I find anything that in APAR or PTF cover letters that
looked like the issue had been addressed. Just curious if this was ever
resolved.

Second, we are going to get a new UPS (which is why I was scanning the
archives on the subject of 'UPS'). We have a 520 desktop system, no
expansion chassis, that we need to hookup to the new UPS. But the only
thing
that I can find regarding the power is in the System Handbook where it
says
the power supply is 850W. Nothing on the outside of the box; didn't pull
the
panels off to look inside. Just wanted to verify that I need to size the
UPS
to handle 850W; I'd hate to be under-powered - or buy more than I need.

Thanks.
