Unless I'm missing a major piece of information, here's where we disagree. The incentive is turn the tide on customers fleeing this system and to sharply increase market share. Whenever a new set of management comes into play in a company or there's some juncture that requires spending money for a hardware upgrade the "old looking" system's currency is called into question.


That's kind of like the forces at work in IBM. Their ecosystem is build around Java and related middleware, so they resist certain types of technology.

I haven't heard that Java as the primary application has made major inroads in i shops. Am I wrong?
