I wanted to get some feedback on what people are using for their LPAR
environments for control purposes.

When we first started doing LPAR's we used R/LPAR mostly to move IOP
resources around. With memory and processor we operated pretty much in
a capped/static environment. Due to price increases with their products
I had to choose Help Systems products to surrender in order to keep my
Help Systems maintenance fees from skyrocketing. I chose R/LPAR because
it was one of the more costly products, we were using the least, and one
that we could actually function without.

I'm now moving into the world where I need to move processor and memory
and not be so static. I should have some environments where I have
higher demand at different times - evening vs. day.

Honestly, I don't think I can afford R/LPAR and there upgrade costs
can't be ignored. I thought I would check with people and see what they
were using and their opinions. I also wanted to get input on 3rd party
pricing practices. I can't afford to buy a product and pay increased
license fees and maintenance fees every time I upgrade. If the price
changes aren't very large I can probably get it approved but when those
costs go up 25% - 50% and the only thing I'm doing different is running
on a larger processor - I can't get it approved.
