Little busy to search IBM for when UDF's came out. Have fun with that. If
you can, you may wish to consider doing it with RPGLE in a subprocedure
and turn that into a UDF. Search faq.midrange.com for some examples. This
would allow you to use the subprocedure in RPGLE if there is a potential
for reusability elsewhere.

I don't suppose you can pivot table the field or some such thing?
