The last time I looked, all of the compilers were included in the
Application Development Tools package. This also included Websphere
Development Studio Client for i Series (WDSC) in the past. As of V6 of the
operating system WDSC has been removed from this package, and the Rational
Development tools are now offered as a separate product. As I understand
it, there are now two compiler choices; the older non-ILE compilers and
the newer ILE compilers, which are still being developed. The pricing on
the compiler packages was about the same as individual compilers were in
the past, so that's a reasonable price if you are doing software
development/support.

Required products for a new i user?

This is just a opinion question. But what products (extra cost) do ya'll
think are "de rigeur" for a new i shop? So far, just from overhearing,
it looks like we will be getting Robot/Scheduler and Robot/Tape. I read
here about the System i Navigator and am reading up on it. I really like
the "for Wireless" option, but that is "extra cost". Now, I am a bit
worried (probably unnecessarily) that the proposal might not include
some extra cost products in order to look more attractive.

On the compiler question: is each compiler licensed separately, or are
the all a single package? I would hope the latter.
