Regardless, lets make this about the great work Frank has always done for this community, the product and IBM and not a complaining session!! He deserves much better than that!
How about starting a list of one-liners that tell what he means to the AS/400, iSeries, i5, etc.etc. community, product and IBM.

These are the only WDS products installed on our boxes:
5722WDS *BASE 5050 WDS for iSeries
5722WDS *BASE 2924 WDS for iSeries
5722WDS 21 5050 Tools - Application Development

The RPG compiler (option 31) is not present. Does this mean I will need to
purchase a license for this "optional product".

Seeing as you're not on V6R1 - no. Just install the product from your media package.

No. If you buy 5722WDS, you have all of the compilers. You just need to install them.

I have not followed this thread, but maybe someone mentioned this ERP on
Windows: Navision, originally Danish, now owned by MicroSoft.
We have looked at this package, before MS took over. we decided to stay on the AS/400, due to lack of required functionality we had with our (then
current) systems
With regards,

Okay Adam West, tell us more about the ERP packages that run on Windows.
I have never heard of any vendor offering a true Enterprise Resource

<Adam West> I have recently been looking at ERP packages from both i
based, either RPG or Java, mostly RPG and the Windows based. I can tell
you that the W based are more impressive screens. </Adam>

If the member hadn't changed, it should have been restored first during the restore of the full system save.
Either, it wasn't a full system save, or something in your restore caused it to be deleted.
How did you restore all the SAVCHGOBJ tapes?
For that matter, what parms do you use for SAVCHGOBJ?

This is what we did and lost the non-modified members. So, either
unspoken is the method to do the restore or this method will cause the
non-modified members to disappear and is a hole in a SavChgObj scenario.

The help for SAVCHGOBJ plainly states:
For database files, only the changed members are saved.
Ergo, if there are 2-n members in a file, but only one has been changed, only that one will be saved. However, since the full system save saves everything, at some point in the cycle it would appear that a multi-member file (call it FILEA) had a member changed and, thus, saved, but the other members were not. The RSTOBJ command says that it restores objects; there is a MBROPT but reading the help text made me dizzy.

Good article on Chris Maxcer's blog on Dr. Frank.

Part of the article includes words from Dr. Frank himself. So who is going to be the first to say that he's covering up the "real" reason he's leaving?
Enjoy.
