When I attempt to scan a barcode tag, I get
an "Input Discarded, Too Long For Field" error.

A couple of things come to mind.

Are you sure that your test program is using the same display file as
the production one? Maybe the field really is/was a different size?

You say Naurtech scanner and CE5250, so I can assume your using
Naurtech's CE5250 emulator? For most barcode symbologies there is a
default maximum length. (Code39 defaults to 48 characters) You can check
what your particular scanner is set to via (at the bottom of the
terminal window) session->configure->symbology then pick the one you are
scanning and 'advanced'.
