There are no advantages now-a-days and lots of disadvantages.

Ideally, you should be using SQL DDL to create your tables and
assigning a primary key.

There is absolutely, positively no reason _NOT_ to use SQL DDL for
physical files (and most logicals). The only exception might be shops
that generate programs and files using a 4GL like Plex which only does
DDS. But even then, we're a Plex shop, and I'm looking at ways to
automate the transform of the DDS generated by Plex into SQL DDL.
There's simply to many advantages to using DDL.
