Hi Folks...
I'm looking to compile a list of (hopefully humorous)
"Dumb Things People Do" to be published in System iNEWS magazine.

Scott -

In 1990 I was working as an AS/400 consultant at a large steel mill in Lone
Star, Texas. The AS/400 was located in the main administration building up
on a hill by U.S. Highway 259. The geniuses who installed terminals in the
mill offices decided to run twinax cable to each of the buildings in the
mill. Some of the twinax runs were almost a mile long and were strung along
telephone poles to the mill offices.

One day the system administrator and I were sitting in his office when he
started getting telephone calls from various people around the mill
complaining that their terminals had gone down and the cursor was in the
right-hand corner of the screen. A quick check on the system showed several
terminals to be in a failed status or vary on pending.

We hopped into his automobile and started driving down into the mill,
following the route along which the cables were strung, and came upon one of
the plant security guards - who happened to be SHOOTING birds off the lines
with a shotgun....

It cost them several thousands of dollars to have the twinax cables re-run -
and they took the shotgun away from the guard!
