Chad almost has the rule exactly right. It is "If the card supports a
1Gbps Connection speed it does NOT Support native SNA." Note that it's
NOT if it's CONNECTED at 1Gbps rather if it supports that speed. Yes you
can still use Anynet and Enterprise extenders on Gb capable cards. So FC
#5701 and FC #5706 as well as all the built in ports on all i5 hardware
and the new 10Gbps cards do not and will not support native SNA.

Re: ETH cards and SNA

A basic rule of thumb is that the newer 10/100/1000 cards/ports do not
support SNA natively. (Including the integrated ethernet ports)

Can anyone tell me which ETH cards do not support SNA?

I have a mix of 2838's, 2849's, and 5706's.

I'm in the process of moving TRN to ETH and will also be eliminating SNA
traffic in the data center. For whatever reason I was thinking of doing
the TRN to ETH conversion first then do the SNA elimination. I'm not
100% sure why at this time.........
