Hi Folks,

I was carefree in the Sys/36 environment till recently, then was surprised
to learn that ASNA was trying so hard to push .Net as a platform/OS alternative.
(Although they did not emphasize that directly when I inquired about Visual RPG
and also Prostart for the external file conversion, I found that out by my own searches.)

You know, I can't even get a stable install of .Net 2.0 on my single XP machine
that will run a few utility programs.

I think I will pass.

Anybody - and I do mean anybody - who has seen a successful migration of
a custom RPG application from the IBM midrange to any other platform,
feel free to counter me. If someone has true data of a technical nature
to share, I'd love to hear specifics: things like response time for
users and total runtime for month-end batch processing, as well as the
cost of the project, length of time it took to implement and how much
you're saving now.
