No. You just have to give each physical file file in your logical a
different format. The files I built my logical over all were identical, down
to the record format, as well.

Yes. You have to have different record formats for each file, and the
PFILE
keyword needs to be qualified with a library name. So when you process
the
file, you can do so either by record format (to get info from a
specific
library), or by file name (to get global information).
