Does a DBMON job capture information about non-SQL access? If yes, then you could start a global DB Monitor and then query the libraries you're interested in....
Otherwise, you might be best served by using database journaling to capture these stats....

You can put triggers on the file and output to a summary file perhaps by

I need a way to tell the volume of activity (Inserts, Updates, Deletes),
over time, on all files in certain libraries? Short of going against
the journals, is there another way to capture and group the "hit rate"
for files grouped by HIGHEST, MEDIUM and LOW or at least a way to show
file "Hit rate" and I'll group.
