BOTH meet this specification or a power supply failure would overload
the remaining circuit.

This is the crucial bit! The whole point of splitting the load is failover,
and if the circuit can't handle the load, it will FALL over, not fail over
<grin>.

On a related note, I took down an iSeries once by plugging in a coffee
maker...
