I guess it's a matter of opinion on the unplugging. You see that by having the thing plugged in, it's grounded. Theoretically this lowers the chance of a static spark making some components angry. OTOH if the thing is plugged in then the service processor (FSP in an i5) is up and running. If that's running then you have some power in some places and touching the wrong thing then could let the magic smoke out.

Well, Terry Sanger is one, and he's been around forever. They're not so
much complaining about the dust blowing as me unplugging the machine.
Evidently unplugging is unheard of.

I don't care. Terry is on his way, and it's IBM's job. It could be as
simple as reseating everything, we'll see.
