Seems simple to me. If I use AS/400 I'm using old technology. If I use
System i, I'm using the latest technology.

When I say System i, then people have to ask me that that is because they
don't know. That allows me to educate them.

And in doing so I can disassociate System i from AS/400. And if they
happen to ask, I can state it can also run the old s/36, s/38 and as/400
stuff, similar to windows 95 compatiblity mode that comes with WinXP. And
then I can follow up by saying something to the effect "but why would I
want to limit myself to windows 95 applications when I have on a dual core
processor with 2 gigs of ram running XP or Vista? Shouldn't I take
advantage of more modern applications and technologies designed for my
newer hardware?

When it comes to marketing, speaking for myself, I've become weary of too
many vendors who sell sizzle and not steak. Most of the time I ignore
advertising altogether. When I do research I trust users such as those on
midrange.com who have first hand experience rather than a sales person who
tells me what I want to hear (just to make a sale) but doesn't tell me
what's in the fine print.

Heck even with IBM's non System i advertising, I still can't tell what
they're selling, and I'm somewhat educated about what they do!
