Jim, I think if you define your print file as AFP with COLOR, you'll be able to use the color overlay with no problems. You'll always have problems with an SCS print file and a color overlay. Also, be sure to pick a *WSCST that supports color when you define the printer device or outq. I've strongly suggested preprint the logos on the form. However they want flexibility in which logos appear. What they are looking for is a very "high end" invoice appearance, but not the 10 to 15k software for the iSeries when they can see any pc print a pdf in color.... jim ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Barber" <mboceanside@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Midrange Systems Technical Discussion" <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, February 21, 2007 9:52 AM Subject: [SPAM] Re: get color overlay to work?
Be aware that extensive color printing will be fairly pricey using color lasers. I get a fair amount of static from customers when they need to buy new cartridges. Lexmark and HP developed a real revenue stream selling this stuff. Preprinted forms are going to be a good bit cheaper than printing "in house". An example is a Lexmark C522 color laser. To do a total reload on cartridges costs just over $400. When you consider that the printer only costs $400, that's a a pretty stiff price to pay. Why not buy the forms with "just" the color logo and everything else blank ??? You do the rest with DDS. Jim Franz wrote:From the archives, there was discussion of getting color overlays towork on the iSeries, with no thread announcing success. Need to print a simple invoice overlay, with color logos. It would be great if no additional products needed, other than a pc product like Word or Photoshop. Has

been able to do this? The price of various forms products (over 10k) is
killing this project for a company with only 1 pre-printed form. No network server exists at this site. At v5r4. Base OS, iSeries
