Am I still eligible for ptf's on my V5R3 even though I no longer have
software maintenance (I do have the Hardware contract)?

No need for it but YES the PTF ordering is a pain.  Check out the latest
TCP group level 9 that came out on the 30th, all changes are for M5.  We
order all the latest groups once a month before we do our Monthly
complete system backup / IPL to apply.  Thank you IBM, can I have
another?

Boot D-side on to an M5 I_BASE_01 disc and install it.  As Al alluded
to, slipping the SLIC.  I wouldn't think it to be necessary unless
there's some feature you require.  The PTF ordering screen does get
annoying though, doesn't it?
