from: "Jeff Crosby" <jlcrosby@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> subject: V5R4 Ops Console I've spent over a week (along with IBM support) trying to get ops console direct attached to work on V5R4. It fails on both PCs we've tried. We're now wondering if it's the USB-to-serial converter cable not being
up
to the task. Ours is a Belkin F5U409. Does anyone else have a V5R4 ops console direct attach, using a USB-to-serial cable, and working? If so, what USB-to-serial cable is it?
We had a problem connecting OPS console to a new 520, in V5R3. There's a procedure allowing you to check if the cosole mode is set to OPS Console : http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/index.jsp?lang=en We were incapable in changing this setting with the 65-21 options. So IBM told us to take out the mainboard battery for at least half an hour, so all system settings would be lost (!). Did that, put back the battery, and the OPS connection came up at power on ! Also, don't forget to install the AS400 modem driver in M$ : http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r3/index.jsp?lang=en Hope this helps, _________________________ Coen Wessels Unicible tel: +41 (0)27 327 4271 fax: +41 (0)27 327 4255 mailto:coen.wessels@xxxxxxxxxxx http://www.unicible.ch
