I won't go into the whole littany of issues we have faced with the
pSeries, but I can state this as a matter of our own personal experience
that after being on AIX for quite a few years, we made the strategic
decision to move to a system (albeit used) that would provide us more
stability, more control over our environment, better programming
choices, etc.

We have a p5 in our shop, however, over the next few years we will be
migrating those apps currently running on it to the i5.

Yes, the p5 is cheaper up front, no tier pricing for the software, but
if you base your IT purchasing strictly on monetary reasons, you would
never consider an iSeries to start with.

It is not always about cost. At least not from my perspective.

AND, you don't have TIERED pricing with pSeries!!! NO BS CFINT
CRAP! (guess Leif, et al, would be bored...:) :) :)

pSeries folks will very openly and candidly tell you they're taking
iSeries
market share without abandon...

Well, heck, COMMON's a few weeks away, time for some more token ads I
presume to make us think there's real marketing going on....

Anyone find Malcolm's cave yet? My guess is he's working on some more
of
those great vignettes that we'll only see at COMMON....damn shame.

:)
