Dave,

Yes our SpoolFlex software should be able to handle the DJDE
job descriptors.
I will give you a call to discuss further offline.

Subject: Reversing the order of a spooled file so it prints

Allen et al,

(responses to the rest of you all below)

Allen, you wrote:

>>Dave,
I don't believe there is an easy way to do what you want
without going the commercial route. There are several
software packages available that will do what you want.
Our SpoolFlex software will do exactly what you want and a
lot more for about $2,500.
By the time you compare the cost of a software solution
versus calculating what it is going to cost you to write
your own, support it, possibly update it if API's change etc
and take into account the additional capabilities of
software products such as SpoolFlex it actually will save
your company in the long run and your time can be better
spent on more important applications then manipulating
spooled files.

We do offer a free trial at NO COST to verify what I have
said.

Allen, can you solution deal with a print stream created by
a program
that has DJDE dynamic job descriptors? An example is

To those of you that offered advice:

Many thanks to those of you who responded to my plea and
provided input
and potential solutions. Some info for you:

- A rewrite of the program to make it print backwards is
being explored
with the vendor that wrote the custom bill program
- Reversing via the hardware is not possible as it is not
available on
the large XEROXs we have not to mention having to possess
memory
sufficient to hold our huge print stream files.
- Changing our large print stream to a PDF and using their
facilities
is just too cumbersome to consider for these size files and
on a
production basis even if it were feasible.
- I don't see how copying this sort of print stream to a
physical file
would help, even adding additional characters upon with to
search, as
then it would have to be returned to a spoolfile state to
continue to
print via the Solimar (creates a template aka a "flash") and
on to the
large XEROXs we have.
- a back-to-back printing utility is not the answer since
this print
stream already prints "duplex"

Hope that helps explain the problem/environment I'm working
with.

Thanks again for all your responses,

Dave Odom
