I hope you'll forgive my memory lapses here, but I don't need to do much

programming anymore. The question is this:

How do I test the value in a YYYYMMDD data field to ensure that it will
be 
a valid date being placed into a date data type field (*ISO) format? If 
it's not valid, I want to trap it and place my null value into the
field.
