However it used to be an accepted bias that the iSeries was not the machine to use for communcating with shop floor equipment, etc. But several people do, and some communicate to a LOT of shop floor equipment very successfully. With the ability of people to break out of their comfort zone and learn new stuff like sockets, etc it can be done, and quite robustly, on an i5. We had too much problems with email on other platforms until our CEO asked how soon could we move it to the as/400. (Who wouldn't kill for a CEO like that?) Rob Berendt
