Rob,I thought the original posting stated max was 40 pages per day. I also was curious why they just didn't snag the splf via ops nav and attached it to a email...helluva lot cheaper...and that's kinda what we have a client doing with some of their monthly reports that have to goto other branches and countries...

Don, We do use a lot of email of pdf files in addition to fax. Some people like fax. If 'Smitty' is on vacation the fax still appears in the fax machine in the middle of the office and not in Smitty's email file. There are people who still only check their email once a day. It took us years to get the gent who is now our CEO to read his own email instead of having his assistant do it. He ain't no 'stuffed shirt'. He used to be a bouncer years ago. That's not alot! And, what I couldn't figure out is why not just cpysplf that stuff and email it? But at only 40 pages, it doesn't hit me as speed and immediacy is an issue... Our iSeries isn't a big one, and faxing really sapped the iSeries resources. * Slow performer. It takes several minutes before the modem starts dialing. And during that 3-5 minutes the system is dedicating as many resources as possible to the fax job. Keep in mind that I'm not referring to send time (i.e, the amount of time during which the modem is off-hook) but only to fax preparation time. * Expensive." I absolutely agree with these observations. Next time we buy a new computer we will be looking at other products for faxing.
